A Love for the Outdoors
Michael Scholtz, a resident and co-owner of Wedderwill Properties, is passionate about the estate and the great outdoors. His interests include mountain biking, sailing, canoeing, and embracing the natural beauty of Wedderwill.
Long-time Residents
Michael and his wife, Wendy, have called Wedderwill home for nearly 20 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. Their deep connection to the estate is evident in their active involvement in its community and governance.
Community Leadership
Over the past two decades, Michael has served on various committees and the estate’s Board for three terms. Wendy shares his enthusiasm for Wedderwill, enjoying horse riding on the estate’s safe and scenic trails and utilizing the excellent facilities in the communal stable block, paddocks, and arena.
Welcoming New Neighbours
A people person at heart, Michael loves meeting prospective residents and introducing them to the beauty of Wedderwill. Many of these visitors end up buying property and becoming friends and neighbors. Michael is always happy to show people around and answer any questions they may have.
Committed to Giving Back
Michael is deeply involved in the local community and is a founding member of the Wedderwill SLP Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting the less privileged in Sir Lowry’s Pass Village. The trust focuses on education and animal sterilization, significantly improving the lives of both people and animals in the village.
Culinary Enthusiast
Aside from his community work, Michael is a skilled chef and wine lover. He enjoys hosting and entertaining fellow residents, often cooking up delicious meals paired with the region’s finest wines.
Directions to Wedderwill Country Estate
From the N2 Heading Towards Somerset West:
Passing Landmarks:
- After passing Somerset Mall, you’ll see BMW & Virgin Active on your right.
- Further along, you’ll pass Volvo, Lexus, and Toyota dealerships on your right.
Turn onto Reunion Drive:
Continue until the second traffic light where there’s a BP Garage on your left.
Turn left here into Reunion Drive. Generation Private School will be on your right.
Navigating Through Circles and Traffic Lights:
Go around two circles.
At the traffic light T-junction, turn right. You’ll see Checkers Vergelegen Plein Shopping Centre on your left.
Follow the Old Sir Lowry’s Pass Road for 4.5 km into the village of Sir Lowry’s Pass.
Entering the Village:
Keep driving straight through the village.
You’ll pass the temporary Police Station on your right and then the Kingdom Builders Church Hall ahead.
Look for the sign pointing to Wedderwill and Knorhoek.
Approaching the Estate:
Continue on the paved road with speed bumps.
After 1 km, you’ll see the Knorhoek gates—turn left before reaching the white gates.
Cross the river and look for the Wedderwill Entrance Gate.
Security Check:
The security guard will call me for permission to grant you access.
Final Stretch:
Stay on the paved road and watch for speed dips.
Drive up the hill for about 1.7 km, being cautious of peacocks—they have the right of way.
Meeting Point:
Meet me at the T-junction at the top of the hill.
